DACCA: India has launched a fresh large-scale offensive against East Pakistan using two divisions, three armoured regiments and several artillery units. In one of the attacks, Indian Air Force came in support of the enemy. The reports of the offensive have been received from Sylhet, Dinajpur and Jessore districts. … According to details … the 8th Indian Division launched a three-pronged attacks on Sylhet from Zakiganj, Atgram and Tamabil sides. The attack was supported by an armoured regiment besides the divisional artillery. … The invaders also called in air support for these attacks. …

[Meanwhile, as reported by agencies from San Clemente (California),] President Nixon has sent messages to India, Pakistan and the Soviet Union asking them to do everything in their power to prevent full-scale war on the Indian Sub-continent… .

[News agencies add from New Delhi,] Prime Minister Indira Gandhi today [Nov 28] warned that India was not ready to bow to pressure from the United Nations or Great Powers in her dispute with Pakistan. Speaking to a huge crowd at Jaipur, she said India wanted peace and had “no quarrel with the people of Pakistan”, but could not keep quiet if its security were endangered.
