LONDON: India’s political strategy behind aggression in East Pakistan is to secure de facto international recognition of the “Bangla Desh” secessionists through their association with any [UNSC] arrangements for ceasefire and military disengagement. The diabolical Indian plot was revealed … by highly placed sources here. This disclosure came in the wake of the agreement between President Nixon and Premier Edward Heath yesterday [Nov 26] on the need for UN Security Council moves to end Indo-Pakistan fighting.

According to these sources, Indian diplomats in Moscow and some other capitals have been trying to enlist support for indirect international recognition of the secessionists as a political and military entity.

[Meanwhile, according to a staff correspondent in Karachi,] Large-scale Civil Defence measures are being taken at the Karachi University Campus to meet any emergency arising out of air-raids. The University authorities have appointed a 16-Member Committee comprising professors and senior teachers to chalk-out ‘planned operational measures’ in case of an emergency. A meeting of the Committee was held yesterday [Nov 26] to select shelter rooms; sites for digging trenches; raising of a volunteer corps and setting up a First Aid Centres in the University Town.
