NALC endorses jirga proposals

Published November 17, 2005

GILGIT, Nov 16: The Northern Areas Legislative Council (NALC) has endorsed the 16-point peace proposal worked out by a grand jirga for maintenance of peace in Gilgit. The session chaired by NALC Speaker Malik Mohammad Miskeen, who also headed the jirga sessions, urged the local administration to implement the agreement in letter and spirit.

The treasury benches could not be represented in the session as the deputy chief executive of the region, Mir Ghazanfar Ali Khan, was in Islamabad in connection with an official meeting.

Mr Miskeen adjourned the session for Tuesday.
