LAKKI MARWAT: Several permanent structures, including shops and plazas, were razed during an anti-encroachment operation in Tajori town here on Tuesday.

The operation was conducted on the directives of deputy commissioner Iqbal Hussain in line with the government’s policy to remove all encroachments and retrieve state land from grabbers.

The employees of tehsil municipal administration took part in the daylong drive under the supervision of assistant commissioner Umar Bin Riaz.

After completion of the demarcation process by the revenue department, the TMA’s anti-encroachment squad demolished the shops, plazas and markets built illegally in Tajori bazaar and along Betani Road with the help of machinery.

Additional AC Waheed Ahmad and TMO Attaullah Khan were also present on the occasion.

Mr Umar told mediapersons that over eight kanals of commercial state land having the market value of Rs200 million had been recovered from land grabbers during the operation. The assistant commissioner said that the road linking Tajori and other parts of the district with Bitani tribal subdivision had been cleared of illegal encroachments.

YOUTH EMPOWERMENT: In an effort to empower the youth, Lucky Cement Limited has launched a vocational training programme 2021 for the permanent residents of Lakki Marwat district.

“The initiative also offers opportunities of employment through skill development,” said an official on Tuesday, adding that under the second phase of programme eligible youth would be enrolled for vocational training programmes in partnership with Hunar Foundation in Tando Allahyar district.

He said that in the first batch the selected students from towns and villages of Lakki Marwat completed their training last year and they were now enrolled for apprenticeship at the Lucky Cement Limited’s Pezu plant. He said Lucky Cement was offering full scholarships to the participants for vocational training.
