LAHORE: Punjab Inspector General of Police Rao Sardar Ali Khan has dismissed from service three deputy superintendents (DSPs) after various charges were proved against them in inquiry reports.

The IGP took action against the three DSPs during the orderly room after they failed to offer satisfactory explanations regarding the charges framed against them by inquiry officers.

The DSPs -- Muhammad Ijaz, Farrukh Sohail Sindhu and Imtiaz Ahmed -- were dismissed from service over various irregularities, a spokesperson for the Punjab Police said here on Tuesday.

He said the IGP had summoned total six DSPs in the orderly room, giving them an opportunity to defend their positions. However, three of them failed to prove their innocence, he added.

On the occasion, the IGP said the process of internal accountability had been intensified in the department under the ‘First reward and then punishment’ policy in order to purge Punjab Police of power abuse, corruption and other irregularities.

“The strict punishment in police is essential to improve the performance of the force and any officer or official involved in professional negligence or any illegal activity will be expelled from the department’, Rao Sardar said.
