LAKKI MARWAT: A kidnapped woman official of the planning and development department was recovered in the mountainous area of Boma in Wazir subdivision of Bannu on Tuesday.

Monitoring officer (green sector) in the department Shaista Bibi was kidnapped by unidentified persons in Baran Dam area of Bannu district on Oct 25.

A local official told Dawn that a local shepherd had spotted the woman official in mountains and informed the administration about it.

He said a large contingent of police recovered the official and shifted her to a hospital for check-up.

The official said the kidnappers had abandoned the woman in the area.

Ms Shaista was kidnapped along with SDFO Anwarullah, forester Moeenullah and driver Gul Ayaz during a visit to Baran Dam area in Wazir subdivision for the monitoring of plantation project.

The administration later held a jirga in the area, while the police raided suspected hideouts in the region for the recovery of abductees.

On last Saturday, a police party led by Bannu DPO Imran Shahid escaped a bomb attack in Kazha

area of Mirali town as it was on the way to Speenwam area in search for kidnappers.
