Contract fishing system opposed

SANGHAR, Nov 14: Local fishermen took out a procession on Monday to protest against the contract fishing system in Sanghar district. A large number of women and children also took part in the protest.

The protesters gathered in front of the office of the district nazim and reached the local press club.

They alleged that some influential people exploiting the rights of the poor fishermen by encouraging the contract system.

They paid Rs30 to Rs40 per kilogram to the fishermen and sold the same fish for more than Rs200, the protesters said.
