KARACHI, Nov 14: Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Mohammad Afzal said Pakistan Navy would radiate constant presence in the region through naval operations, maritime security and exercise with foreign navies.

In his first address to the sailors after assuming the command of Pakistan Navy on Monday, he said, Pakistan Navy’s continued participation in Coalition Maritime Campaign Plan is also an extension of this policy.

The fleet units are the real strength of navy and the deficiency of lesser platforms should be overcome by maintaining an extraordinary level of operational readiness to safeguard frontiers and thwart any aggressive design, he said.

About acquisition of modern platforms, he said, “We are looking forward to strengthen naval platforms to increase combat power.”

He said that Pakistan Navy was also trying to develop the coastal areas and a comprehensive master plan is in making, he added.—Online
