Three deaths, 594 new dengue cases in Punjab

LAHORE: With three more deaths, Punjab reported 594 more dengue positive cases across the province during the last 24 hours, taking the total number of cases to 13,483.

Of them 452 confirmed cases were reported from Lahore, 49 from Rawalpindi, 12 from Gujranwala, nine from Sargodha, eight from Faisalabad, seven from Bahawalpur, five each from Attock, Kasur and Rahim Yar Khan, while four cases each were reported from Pakpattan and Sahiwal.

A spokesperson for the health department said on Saturday that the total number of deaths due to the dengue fever in Punjab had reached 43.

He said out of the total positive cases, 9,056 were reported from provincial capital Lahore, showing the city bearing enormous burden of the virus.

The healthcare department said the teams had been fielded to intensify dengue prevention activities across Punjab.

It has appealed to the citizens to take special care of cleanliness and stop throwing garbage in open places.
