PATNA: The selection of a representative of the Depressed Classes by the Muslim League as one of its five nominees in the Interim Government has enlivened Scheduled Castes of Bihar….

Many district branches of the Scheduled Castes’ Federation have passed resolutions thanking Mr. Jinnah for recognising their rights and have assured him of their unstinted support in all fights which he might launch, against Fascist caste-Hindu Congress. The Hindu Press has completely blacked out all the reports about the Scheduled Castes’ reactions to the League’s gesture.

Rai Saheb Jaideo Prasad, MLC, a prominent leader of the Scheduled Castes, has expressed the hope that even now the Depressed Classes would realise who was their real friend — the sponsor of the Poona Pact, sealing their doom forever, or the League leader who had no axe of his own to grind. He has appealed to the Depressed Class people in Bihar to organise and work for their political emancipation. …Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru’s recent statement about the death of Mr. Subhas Chandra Bose has been received with intense resentment in the Forward Bloc circles… .
