CHITRAL: Two persons, including a policeman, were killed when a rashly-driven public transport vehicle struck them in Mastuj village here on Monday.

One of the passengers travelling in the vehicle, which was going from Laspur to Boni, said the driver, namely Niat Wali Shah, kept on quarrelling with the passengers during the journey. He said the Mastuj police station officials impounded the vehicle when passengers complained about the driver’s rude behaviour.

However, he said one of the passengers, Abdul Jahan, submitted a guarantee, and got the driver released. After coming out of the police station the driver sped away in the opposite direction of Boni without taking the passengers onboard, the passenger said.

The complainant said Abdul Jahan, the guarantor, and a constable, Mubarak Khan, were struck when they started chasing the lunatic driver on a motorcycle.

The driver was finally overpowered by people in Chuinj area and handed over to the police.
