MUZAFFARABAD, Jan 24: A man died and 14 others were critically injured when an overloaded passenger jeep skidded off the narrow hilly road in Muzaffarabad district on Wednesday, police said on Thursday.

The accident occurred in Pihaltar village, 22 kilometres north of here, owing to overloading. At least 45 persons, more than its capacity, were riding in the ill-fated vehicle. The driver was carrying also 15 maund wheat flour in the jeep.

Residents said that no one from the administration had visited the site of the accident.

They demanded of the government to widen the road and put a strict check on overloading to avoid further accidents.
