LAHORE: Federal Minister for Information Fawad Chaudhry says the government wants to introduce such electoral reforms that may make the election process and results acceptable to all.

He was speaking at a reception here on Sunday. Special Assistant to Punjab Chief Minister on Information Hasaan Khawar was also present.

He said the opposition would be contacted next week on the matters pertaining to NAB ordinance with the assurance of incorporating into the bill the amendments having consensus of both the government and opposition.

Mr Chaudhry advised the opposition to focus on electoral reforms and other national issues instead of raising non-issues.

He claimed that except the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf no other political party would be able to field 800 to 900 candidates in the next general election.

About the Afghan situation, he said Pakistan always played an effective and positive role for the formation of an inclusive government in Afghanistan that would guarantee peace and stability there. He said Islamabad has been convincing the international community to play its due role in the current situation in Afghanistan.
