LAHORE: The Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) on Sunday enhanced monitoring of the clean-up operation launched in the city.

LWMC CEO Rafia Haider paid a surprise visit to the night shift cleaning operation last night followed by the visit of Valencia and Sikandria workshop on Sunday morning.

She directed the team to remain active in the field to ensure timely lifting of waste during the visit and keeping Lahore clean 24/7 was their top priority. She also reviewed the cleanliness situation in the mechanical sweeping markets on the main highways.

She issued orders in the commercial food markets to expand the scope of mechanical sweeping and washing to increase their efficiency.

Ms Haider directed the operation teams to ensure 100 percent attendance and working in all three shifts and directed senior officers and special monitoring teams to pay a surprise visit in 24-hour.

She said town managers and zonal officers of areas with poor sanitation would face departmental action.

The CEO directed a special dengue awareness drive at Gulberg Town to reach out to the maximum number of people and to create awareness and highlight precautionary measures needed to be taken to combat dengue epidemic.
