KOHAT/BAJAUR: Functions were held in Kohat, Orakzai and Darra Adamkhel in connection with Rabiul Awwal.

Speakers at ceremonies held in government schools in Lachi tehsil, Darra, the Kohat city and Orakzai said even non-Muslims were convinced of the truthfulness, character, honesty and dignity the last prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

The functions were held at the government higher secondary school, Shakardarra, government middle school, Baragzai in Lachi, government high school, Saiful Darra, Orakzai, and government high school, Darra Adamkhel.

The speakers said the prophet had come as a blessing for the whole universe. As a source of light, he ended all darkness and illuminated the whole world, they added. They said the last prophet not only grieved for the Muslims but also for the non-Muslims, and prayed for their betterment. They said that His teachings and life were source of forgiveness for the whole world and hereafter.

They stressed that Rabiul Awwal had a special place in the Muslim calendar during which Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) was born.

Competitions of Naats and recitation of the Holy Quran were also held, with the top position holders getting prizes.

In Bajaur, the district administration has launched efforts to celebrate Eid Miladun Nabi with religious fervour on Oct 19.

Talking to mediapersons on Friday, deputy commissioner Iftikhar Alam said his administration had started installing billboards and banners in bazaars and other public places, and putting lighting arrangements on the government buildings to highlight the significance of the event.

He said people from different walks of life, including traders, were also taking part in the preparations to celebrate the distinguished event.
