LINGUISTIC DIVERSITY: Pakistan is a country of linguistic diversity where around 70-80 languages are spoken, and Urdu is the mother tongue of only about seven per cent of the population. Hence, the best solution, which is also adopted by other countries, is to make English the official language and the medium of instruction, especially if we aspire to make the country an attractive place for tourists. Falling victim to narrow nationalism is not considered wise in the modern age.

CLEAR SKY: Lahore recently witnessed an unusually clear sky. We are so used to the polluted sky that I felt mesmerised by the blue sky and was unable to take my eyes off it, hoping that this would not be an unusual scene for our future generations. I hope that the people continue to participate in the Clean and Green Pakistan initiative and that we also focus on reducing carbon emissions in addition to reforestation efforts to play our role against climate change.

OUTDATED SYLLABUS: While the world is moving towards modern syllabi and new theories in education, more than four million students of Sindh are studying an outdated syllabus which has not been updated for around five decades. The students are reading old theories, some of which have been rejected, and have no importance in the world of innovation and technology. The authorities should pay serious attention to the matter.

CONDITION OF BRIDGES: There are three universities in Jamshoro; the Mehran University of Engineering and Technology, the University of Sindh, and the Liaquat University of Medical and Health and Sciences. Thousands of students from different cities come to these institutions. But the bridges that link the town to various arteries are in a dilapidated condition, causing difficulties for the commuters. Urgent repair work is needed.
