LAHORE, Oct 15: An anti-terrorism court on Monday awarded death sentence on two counts with a fine of Rs200,000 each to three convicts for killing two policemen in an encounter.

Convicts Muhammad Asghar, Rana Ihsan and Miraj Khalid were also awarded five jail terms with fines.

They had killed ASI Jameel and constable Akram and injured head-constable Muzaffar Husain in the jurisdiction of Muridke City police station.

According to details, the three were required in a dacoity case and the policemen had gone to arrest them when the encounter took place.

The police had arrested Rana Ihsan while the other two evaded arrest and attacked the police party and got Ihsan released.

The three were sentenced to jail for 10 years on two counts with a fine of Rs50,000 and Rs25,000 each and two-year imprisonment on three counts with a fine of Rs25,000 each. — Staff Reporter
