ISLAMABAD: An educational institute in the capital was sealed after several people were diagnosed with Covid-19 there.

Furthermore, one person succumbed to the disease whereas 69 new cases emerged in the capital with the positivity rate recorded at 1.9pc on Monday.

Officials of the capital administration said three cases surfaced in Islamabad Model College for Girls (Junior Campus I-8/2).

On the advice of the District Health Office, the college premises was closed down immediately till further intimation, they added.

Health officials were also asked to conduct disinfection activities as per guidelines issued by the Ministry of National Health Services, Regulation and Coordination.

Besides, testing of all exposed students and staff must be performed and adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs) must be ensured, the officials added.

All close contacts of the cases will be quarantined for a period of 14 days.

The deceased was a female patient from the 70-79 age group and a resident of G-9.

During the last 24 hours, 3,636 tests were conducted.

APP ADDS: According to data shared by the district health authority, 19 people tested positive for Covid-19 in Rawalpindi district. The positivity ratio in the district was 4.5pc.

Two cases were reported from Rawal Town, seven from Potohar town, four from Rawalpindi cantonment while one each case was reported from Taxila, Kotli Sattian, Chakwal, Attock, Wazirabad and the federal capital area.

As many as 2,726,832 people including 42,665 health workers, 2,684,167 other adults and senior citizens have been vaccinated so far against Covid-19 across the district.

Presently, 78 confirmed patients are admitted to various city hospitals. As many as 32 patients are in Benazir Bhutto Hospital, 30 in Rawalpindi Institute of Urology,12 in Fauji Foundation Hospital, three in Holy Family Hospital and one in Bilal hospital.

So far, 33,955 patients have been discharged after recovery while four patients are on ventilators in critical condition, 43 are stable and 31 are on oxygen support.
