LAHORE: The Punjab government has appointed public policy expert Hasaan Khawar as Special Assistant to the Chief Minister (SACM) on Information and Special Initiatives.

The post had been vacant after Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan tendered her resignation on Aug 6. The government had also denotified SACM on political affairs Awn Chaudhry as he did not tender his resignation immediately.

A week later, the Punjab government notified prisons minister Fayyazul Hassan Chohan as official spokesman for the Punjab government.

Chief Minister Usman Buzdar has kept the portfolio of information minister with him. Mr Khawar, a columnist, has tweeted, “Alhamdulillah! I’ve been appointed as Special Assistant to Chief Minister Punjab on Information & Special Initiatives. I’m grateful to CM Usman Buzdar for trusting me for this important role”.
