CHITRAL: Two persons were killed when a jeep plunged into the Chitral River near Reshun village on Booni Road here on Sunday morning.

Rescue 1122 personnel reached the spot and retrieved the bodies from the river, and shifted them to the District Headquarters Hospital, Booni. An official of Booni police station identified the deceased as driver Aslam Khan and Farhat, both belonging to Lone village.

He said that the accident occurred due to reckless driving, for which a case had been registered under sections 279 and 320 against the driver.

Meanwhile, a team of Rescue 1122 rescued a shepherd from a mountain cave he had fallen into while grazing goats in Laspur village of Upper Chitral.

An official said that it took the rescuers five hours to locate the person in the cave and pull him out with the help of ropes.
