DADU: Syed Zaffar Ali Shah, who is son of late politician Syed Amir Hyder Shah and a grandson of veteran nationalist leader G.M. Syed, was booked on Saturday at the Chachar police station of Sann town for desecrating graves and human remains a few days ago.

The Mallah community of the town, along with civil society activists, had been holding protest demonstrations against the digging of about a dozen graves of their elders in the Shah Hyder Sanai graveyard to shift the remains to, what they claimed, “one grave in another portion of the graveyard”. They were pressing for legal action against Zaffar Ali Shah.

Zaffar Ali Shah’s cousin and Sindh United Party (SUP) leader Syed Jalal Mehmood Shah had also condemned the “inhuman act” and dissociated himself from the matter.

Hyderabad DIG Sharjeel Kharal has said that the area police were investigating the case after registering the FIR.Meanwhile, the Jamshoro District Bar Association has passed a resolution against desecration of graves and human remains in Sann. Its president, Hyder Ali Unnar, condemned the act and demanded action against all those involved in the act.
