LAHORE: With 19 new Covid deaths and 1,002 positive cases reported during the last 24 hours in Punjab, the total number reached 12,487 and 425,704, respectively.

Of the fresh positive cases, 482 were reported in Lahore, 76 in Rawalpindi, 52 in Chakwal, 49 in Faisalabad, 38 in Sargodha, 35 in Multan, 22 in Sheikhupura, etc.

According to the official update released by the health department here on Thursday, Punjab reported 6.5 per cent positivity rate of the virus.

It was recorded 8.9pc in Lahore, 5.1pc in Rawalpindi, 6.1pc in Faisalabad and 5.4pc in Multan.

The health department said vaccination campaign was successfully under way at all the 636 centres across the province.

It said 413,802 people were vaccinated against the coronavirus during the last 24 hours in Punjab, bringing the total number to 43,030,755.
