QUETTA: Speakers at a seminar on “Role of students in eradication of corruption” have said that women have a key role to play for the betterment of society and good results can be achieved against corruption and other social evils by engaging the female students.

The seminar was organised by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) at Sardar Bahadur Khan Women’s University here on Wednesday.

Addressing the participants of the seminar, NAB Balochistan Director Mohammad Rafique Memon, Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Naheed Haq and faculty member Prof Dr Shumaila of Sardar Bahadur Khan Women’s University and other speakers said the scourge of corruption had tarnished the natural beauty of society, its various forms had blocked the path to merit, justice and durable development.

He said that women were the basic unit of society and termed female students future of Pakistan. He said 52 per cent of Pakistanis were women and therefore their role in the betterment of the society was of utmost importance.

Vice Chancellor of Sardar Bahadur Khan Women’s University Dr Naheed Haq described students, especially female students, as the driving force of change in the society and said that there was a need to prepare this class studying in educational institutions in the fight against corruption.

“To eradicate corruption, we must have loyalty, integrity and righteousness in our students,” she said, adding that the students must be loyal towards their career/future. They must carve their own ways, as per merit, through hard work and righteousness, she added.

Dr Shumaila said: “We need to be just loyal and fair in our capacities, whether it is education, family, career or anything to get what we deserve.”

Earlier, Mr Memon highlighted the laws, performance and achievements of NAB.
