MANSEHRA, Nov 8: Pakistan People’s Party chairperson Benazir Bhutto has said that the nation’s response to sufferings of the quake-affected people is commendable, but the government failed to handle the situation effectively.

Talking to the leader of the NWFP chapter of the All Pakistan Local Government Employees Federation, Sajjad Hussain Jhagra, on telephone, the PPP chairperson said that the government could not deal with the situation effectively and failed even to estimate the losses rendered by earthquake.

She said the level of destruction by the earthquake was too high as compared to the tsunami but due to the wrong policies of the government only a few countries were helping the country with the catastrophe.—Online
