CURRICULUM DEBATE

Published September 21, 2021

CURRICULUM DEBATE: I am among those who fail to see any good thing coming out of the implementation of the Single National Curriculum (SNC) for classes till grade IV. What is the utility of such an initiative in a country where around 40 per cent of children happen to be out of schools. Should we not be focussing on bringing them into the fold first? In Islamabad, not a single school has been built over the years. What good will SNC do without enough schools?

SOCIETY WOES: The condition of NPF housing scheme in sector E-11 of Islamabad, which was in the limelight in the wake of urban flooding recently, is awful. The roads have been in a dilapidated condition for about two years, causing 5-10 accidents every week. The relevant authorities need to take action against those at the helm of affairs in the housing society.

CYBER HASSLE: For the last eight years our company has been a client of a local web-hosting company.

Recently, the service provider blocked our website even though we had cleared the annual charges a week ahead of the due date. The website has remained blocked to date. This is a matter of great concern as it is not the first time such a thing has happened.

Our worst fear is related to the possible misuse of the website domain for any kind of undesirable activity.

TRAWLER MAFIA: The trawler mafia is killing marine life along Balochistan’s costal zones, and in the process creating a life-and-death situation for the local fishermen who are unable to earn their livelihood anymore. This will only add to the rampant poverty in the area. The government should enact strict laws against trawler mafia to save the local fishermen as well as the marine life which is the beauty of the coastal belt.
