LAKKI MARWAT: The Fruit and Vegetable Commission Agents Union has warned its members along with other residents will stage street protests if the Pesco subjects them to unscheduled and excessive power cuts.

The warning was issued during during a meeting chaired by union president Asmatullah Qasamkhel and attended by union members and commission agents at the fruit and vegetable market in Lakki city on Monday.

Mr Asmatullah and other leaders said the Pesco suspended electric supply in urban areas for long hours troubling the residents, especially traders.

They said the excessive power cuts badly affect preservation of fruits and vegetables in cold storage and thus, causing them huge losses.

The speakers regretted that the traders didn’t get smooth electric supply despite the regular payment of bills.

They said the frequent power outages also hit the supply of vegetables and fruits to the market.

The union leaders asked the Pesco and district administration for early corrective measures.
