SARGODHA, Nov 8: A group of various NGOs has decided to launch a special campaign against cable operators, who are not only promoting obscenity but also riding rough with the customers.

Chairing a meeting here on Tuesday, Advocate Imran Khan — an NGO representative — gave an account of relevant laws controlling the cable operation.

He alleged that the cable operators had hired line holders, who were involved in theft at houses especially at Civil Lines and University Road. He said the law enforcers were no more than silent spectators.

He quoted a cable operator as claiming that they have given nearly 100 free connections to the police officials and Wapda employees.

Advocate Imran also said as most of the people avoided paying line rent, the operators and their men misbehaved with the public.

Muhammad Usman, a participant, said he caught a cable lineman jumping into a house at midnight and handed him over to a mobile squad but later he was freed and he threatened him with dire consequences.
