DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Civil Judge-VIII Jauhar Ali Safi on Friday issued a stay order on a petition against transfer of Gomal University’s assets to the Agricultural University and summoned the respondents on Sept 20 for next hearing of the case.

The petitioners, including Riaz Bettanni, Shafiq-ur-Rehman and other employees of Gomal University, had approached the court against the decision taken at the 109th meeting of the varsity syndicate on Sept 11 to transfer the assets of Gomal University to the Agriculture University in Dera Ismail Khan.

The petitioners stated that despite the fact that the quorum was not complete in the meeting the syndicate implemented the decisions against the University Act, 2012 (Amended 2016).

The petitioners said the meeting should have been attended by 12 members of the syndicate, but only nine were in attendance, and the rest were unrelated people.

After approval of the provincial cabinet, the secretary agriculture and livestock had announced establishment of the Agricultural University through a notification.

On the orders of the (acting) vice-chancellor of the Gomal University, who is also the vice-chancellor of the Agricultural University, the registrar had issued orders on Sept 15 to transfer the assets of the former to the latter.
