SHANGLA: The police on Wednesday torched a huge quantity of narcotics, liquor, expired ghee and unhygienic honey, which were seized in various operations in the Shangla district.
The items were set on fire at Kokar Baba ground in Alpuri in the presence of senior civil judge Ijazur Rehman and SSP investigations Muzamil Shah.
Talking to reporters on the occasion, SSP Muzamil Shah said that 103 kilogrammes hashish, 700 litres liquor, 82 kilogrammes of expired ghee and 54kgs of unhygienic honey were set on fire on court orders.
Meanwhile, the Dandai police arrested two drug peddlers and recovered a large quantity of hashish from their possession on Wednesday.
Shangla police spokesperson Umar Rehman told reporters that over one kilogramme of hashish was recovered from two wanted drug peddlers, namely Farman Ali and Nawabzada.
He said the arrest of drug peddlers was made on a tip-off, adding cases were registered against them in the Dandai police station.
Separately, a mineworker, who had died in a coalmine incident in Chakwal district of Punjab the other day, was laid to rest in his ancestral graveyard in Ashadkot area of Puran tehsil on Wednesday.
Local residents told reporters that Alif Zada was electrocuted at his workplace.
