LAHORE: Heavy rain in various parts of the city on Saturday inundated roads and low-lying areas.

The Met Office has forecast more showers on Sunday (today).

The rain had started early in the morning on Saturday and it continued intermittently till afternoon, eventually submerging the roads in knee-deep water. Many vehicles and motorcycles broke down in parts of the city and massive traffic jams were reported.

Most of the localities, including Gulberg, Walton Road, Dharampura, Model Town, Faisal Town, Mughalpura and Ghaziabad, were flooded with rainwater, causing hurdles to the movement of motorists and residents of these areas.

Some trees also fell, hampering smooth vehicular movement on a number of roads, including the Canal Road.

According to Met Office, Lakshmi Chowk received the highest 147mm rain, Farrukhabad 123mm, Paniwala Talab 121 and airport area reported 29.2mm rain.

However, no loss of life and property was reported in the city till the filing of this report.
