LAHORE: The Punjab Higher Education Department (HED) has transferred a teacher of the MAO College after charges of harassment levelled by a student proved true.

A student of the Psychology Department had lodged a complaint that her teacher had harassed her. She alleged that her teacher had asked her to meet him outside the college and he would give her attractive marks.

The college administration constituted a committee to probe the harassment case a month ago and also stopped the suspect from attending classes. The committee found the teacher guilty of calling the student to meet her outside the college. It submitted the report to Lahore Director Colleges Dr Zia.

Dr Zia forwarded the report to Director Public Instructions (DPI) Colleges Dr Ashiq Baloch with a suggestion to transfer the teacher from a co-education college to any boys college. Mr Baloch wrote to the HED to issue transfer orders of the teacher found guilty of harassment.

Mr Baloch told Dawn that he also had personally investigated the case and found that the teacher had called the student to meet her outside the college.

He said the department had first stopped him from taking classes and his transfer orders would be issued in a day or two as the colleges were closed due to coronavirus lockdown.
