Published November 8, 2005

MIRPURKHAS, Nov 7: Two people criminally assaulted a teenage girl in the Haveli village near Chhor on Sunday. The accused forcibly entered the house of Nanak Ram Meghwar, a blind man, and gave him some intoxicant. They tortured his 14-year-old daughter and then took her to a room and raped her.

The Umerkot police registered a non-cognisable report of Nanak Ram against Nazar Mohammad Samejo and Ramoon Meghwar.

Later, the girl told journalists that her mother and brother had gone to Umerkot when the two men entered the house and gave some intoxicant to her father.

She said they beaten her and closed her in a room where she was assaulted. She said when she started screaming, they threatened her with dire consequences.—BoC
