WRONGLY VACCINATED

Published September 9, 2021

WRONGLY VACCINATED: My friend got the first dose of Sinovac, but, due to some technical issues at the Dow Ojha Hospital, the system showed Sinopharm against her name when she went for the second dose. The staff had not given her any card after the first dose that could have had the vaccination details on it. Now, despite having received two separate vaccines, her vaccination certificate shows that she received Sinovac on both occasions. The relevant authorities need to fix technical glitches.

CONTAMINATED WATER: A report by the Pakistan Council for Research in Water Resources (PCRWR) has revealed that 20 sources of drinking water across the country had high levels of toxicity, making it unfit for human consumption. High levels of arsenic, brain-eating amoeba, fluoride and excessive ratio of iron were found to be widespread in water sources. Industrial waste and poor sewerage system are major causes of water contamination. The relevant departments must initiate a water purification drive across the country.

GROUP INSURANCE: This refers to the letter ‘Group insurance plan’ (Aug 11). I would like to add that the Sindh Finance Department’s notification is surprising, frustrating and unjust. Group insurance should be given and granted to every retired civil servant of Sindh, as is the practice in other provinces. I hope the government will reconsider its notification and will address the matter justly.

SHORTAGE of BOOKS: It has already been a month since the academic year started, but textbooks part of the Single National Curriculum (SNC) for grade IV are still not available in Sargodha. This is a matter of great concern as the academic activities are already affected by the pandemic. The authorities concerned should provide the books forthwith.
