RAWALPINDI: In collaboration with the District Sports Department, a hockey tournament was organised on the occasion of Defence Day at Shahnaz Sheikh Hockey Stadium.

Four teams from Rawalpindi district participated in the tournament, in the under-17 and senior categories. Prizes were distributed among members of the winning teams.

Talking to the players, district administration and sports officials said that healthy activities should be encouraged as much as possible because there are many talented sports players in the district.

They said Shahnaz Sheikh in hockey and Shoaib Akhtar in cricket are among the few names who have made the country famous all over the world. They said that hockey should be promoted at the local level as much as possible so that the national game could be brought back to its former glory.
