KARACHI: A young man was stabbed to death and a 20-year-old woman was critically wounded allegedly by her brother in Quaid-i-Azam Colony in the name of so-called honour, police said.

The Mobina Town police station said M. Sheraz stabbed his sister, Gulnaz Siddique, 20, and cousin, Majid Hussain, 22, with a knife.

They were taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where the man died during treatment.

The police claimed to have arrested Sheraz and recovered the knife from the scene. Area SHO Faizul Hasan said that the suspect confessed that he did it in the name of so-called honour. He added that the alleged killer had no regrets.

The police said both the victims were cousins and liked each other.

Youth shot dead by bike-snatchers

A 22-year-old man was shot dead by armed men when he resisted their bid to snatch his motorbike in Korangi, police said on Monday.

Zaman Town SHO Gulzar Tunio said that two armed pillion riders intercepted Uzair Khalid near the Aqil Marriage Hall, Nasir Jump, Darul Salam Society, and tried to snatch his bike.

However, the youth took out the key from bike’s ignition and attempted to run away, but the assailants fired at him and fled.

He suffered critical bullet wounds and was taken to a nearby hospital where was pronounced dead. Later, the body was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre to fulfil medico-legal formalities.

The victim had purchased the bike recently. He originally hailed from Azad Kashmir.

Meanwhile, police on Monday claimed to have arrested four more suspects for their alleged involvement in what they described as the year’s biggest heist in a cash van near I.I. Chundrigar Road.

City SSP Sarfaraz Nawaz Shaikh said that over Rs20 million was also recovered from their custody.
