KARACHI, Nov 6: Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad has appealed to the nation, as well as the international community, for help in the rehabilitation efforts by the government.

He was talking to newsmen after distributing gifts among earthquake victims at civil hospital, where he visited accompanied by City Nazim Syed Mustafa Kamal on Friday.

He said that the second phase of rehabilitation process was about to begin for which the same support from Pakistani nation and international community was needed as exhibited in the relief and rescue activities.

He observed that Pakistan was passing through a catastrophe, and appealed to the world community to come forward and extend maximum possible assistance to it on humanitarian grounds to meet the forthcoming challenges.

“This is a great challenge being faced by the nation. The entire nation has shown solidarity with quake victims and the relief work will continue to go ahead with national spirit,” he added.

In reply to a question, Dr Ibad said that the Sindh government was bearing all expenses on the treatment of the ailing victims of the quake.

He said that people of Sindh and Karachi had demonstrated an unprecedented response towards the relief work and the Sindh government would welcome more of the injured people from the quake-hit areas for treatment in the local hospitals which would provide them best treatment facilities.

He said that enormous resources were required for the rehabilitation work.—APP
