LAHORE: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Wednesday approved filing a reference against PML-N Punjab President and MNA Rana Sanaullah in the accountability court in the assets beyond means case. For the final approval, it has been forwarded to the NAB chairman.

Sanaullah is facing the NAB probe for making assets worth Rs190 million.

The NAB had initiated the income beyond means investigation against the former law minister following his bail in the narcotics case from the Lahore High Court over a year ago.

Rana Sanaullah had said he disclosed his property in his wealth statement at transaction value, but the NAB was considering it at its current market value and trying to use it to make a new case against him related to income beyond means.

He said he did not have any fake bank account nor benami property.

The PML-N has termed the NAB move ‘political victimisation’ of Rana Sanaullah.

“Mr Sanaullah is being punished for his loyalty to Nawaz Sharif,” PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif said on Wednesday.

He said a false narcotics case was also made against Sanaullah. He said the PML-N leaders and workers would not be intimidated by false cases.
