SWABI: Scores of people here have claimed that the Peshawar Electric Supply Company has sent them inflated electricity bills for July.

During a visit to the Pesco office in the district headquarters and interaction with power consumers the other day, it was noted that complaints were pouring against the local staff.

Ubaidur Rehman of Maneri Bala village showed his bill in which the meter reader had not taken the picture of meter reading with cell phone.

“During last three months I was charged 600 units more than what I have consumed. I got Rs10,000 bill,” he said.

Gul Riaz Khan claimed he continued visiting the Pesco office for the last three months, but the overcharged units were not adjusted and only his payment was reduced.

He added that he again received the inflated bill in the next month.

Umer Khan and several other consumers also made similar complaints and urged the Pesco authorities to ask its staff to prepare the bills according to the meter reading.

When asked, the Pesco officials said they fully cooperated with the consumers to resolve their problems.

POWER SUSPENSION: Power supply to various areas here remained suspended at night and on Saturday as well when trees fell on the main transmission line on Friday night.

When contacted, the Pesco officials said trees had fallen on the main transmission line near the Swabi Judicial Complex when thunderstorm hit the region on Friday evening.

The Pesco officials said their staff continued their work for the whole day to restore the power supply. The consumers claimed that whenever a fault developed in the transmission line no one came for its removal at night.
