SWAT/BAJAUR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Inspector General of Police Moazzam Jah Ansari said on Thursday that the police were ready to tackle any challenge arising due to the ongoing situation in neighbouring Afghanistan.

He was talking to mediapersons in the Malakand DIG office during his visit to Swat. Malakand DIG Abdul Ghafoor Afridi was also present on the occasion.

Mr Ansari said the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police were equipped with modern weapons and technology and they were ready to meet any challenge in the province. He said that no militant from Afghanistan would be allowed to enter KP.

“If any militant or anti-state element tried to enter Pakistan, the police are capable to stop them,” he said.

Shows satisfaction over law and order situation in Malakand division

The IGP said the police were fully trained and those entering the province from Afghanistan illegally would be treated according to the law.

He expressed his satisfaction over the law and order situation in Malakand division. He said that new police stations and posts were being set up in Malakand to improve the situation.

In Bajaur, Deputy Inspector General of Police, Malakand range, Abdul Ghafoor Afridi said on Thursday that integration of Khasadar and Levies personnel into regular police force in the tribal districts was a big development which helped them to enjoy the same incentives and facilities as enjoyed by police personnel across the province.

Mr Afridi was addressing a function held in connection with promotion of scores of police personnel at Jirga Hall in Civil Colony, Khar.

Provincial minister Anwar Zeb Khan, MNA Gul Dad Khan, deputy commissioner Iftikhar Alam and district police officer Abdul Samad Khan were present on the occasion besides scores of tribal elders.

The DIG said that the successful integration of former Fata with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had put the tribal districts on track of sustainable peace and development.
