BAJAUR: The authorities fined owners of 12 filling stations in Khar tehsil for overcharging consumers here on Monday.

A team of district administration officials during surprise raids found that the filling stations had tampered with their fuel dispenser meters to fleece consumers, according to a statement.

The officials then took the operators of the filling stations to the office of assistant commissioner, who imposed fines on them and also warned them of strict action if they indulged in the unlawful activity in future.

RESUMPTION OF FLIGHTS SOUGHT: Scores of oversees Pakistanis held a demonstration here the other day to demand immediate resumption of international flights that had been suspended for the last several months due to Covid-19 pandemic.

The demonstration was held outside the Bajaur Press Club.

The protesters said more than 90,000 residents of Bajaur had been working in different countries, mostly in Gulf States. They said the workers were stuck in their homes owing to suspension of international flights from Pakistan due to Covid-19.

They said the prolonged suspension of flights had rendered thousands of expatriates unemployed, and most of them were even unable to pay the school fees of their children.
