ISLAMABAD: The enforcement department of the Capital Development Authority (CDA), with the help of the district administration and the police, conducted several operations against encroachments and illegal constructions in different areas in which unauthorised buildings, houses and other structures were demolished.
According to an official statement, the operations were launched from Saidpur where an illegal room, four walls and a gate were demolished with the help of heavy machinery.
Furthermore, in Ameer Market of I-10/4, parts of a plaza, whose basement was illegally accessed through a sidewalk with illegal gates, were also demolished.
In addition, a plaza being constructed on government land at Zia Masjid in Shakrial was demolished and the construction materials seized.
Later, three new under-construction DPCs were demolished in the Bari Imam area.
Moreover, an illegal plaza was demolished at Sarai Mado in Sangjani, as some parts ofthe building were constructed on government land.
On this occasion, the CDA administration said that protection of government land is top priority and the anti-encroachment drive to make Islamabad an encroachment-free city will continue as per the directions of the federal government.
It may be noted that for the last several months, the CDA’s enforcement department has been conducting operations against illegal encroachments and constructions, which have resulted in the retrieval of state land worth billions of rupees.
