RAWALPINDI: Though the capital saw a decline in Covid-19 positivity rate on Wednesday, 312 more cases emerged with two elderly patients losing their lives in Rawalpindi district.

Islamabad’s positivity ratio was recorded at 5.8pc.

The deceased were identified as Begum Bibi, 69, resident of Chak Beli Khan, who was brought to Fauji Foundation Hospital and Tahira Tasleem, 63, from Raja Akram Colony, who was taken to Isolation Hospital and Infectious Treatment Centre on Aug 17.

Officials of the capital administration said 5,300 tests were conducted during the last 24 hours in the capital.

On Tuesday, 294 cases were detected from 3,966 tests conducted, with 7.4pc positivity.

Meanwhile, 188 people contracted the virus in Rawalpindi district and 100 patients were discharged from hospitals after recovering from the virus during the last 24 hours.

There are 2,426 active patients in the district out of whom 225 are in hospitals, including 20 who arrived from other districts, and 2,201 are home isolated.

As many as 52 patients arrived from the cantonment areas, 65 from city areas, 34 from Potohar Town, nine from Gujar Khan, one from Kahuta, two patients each from Taxila, Kallar Syedan and Kotli Sattian, 10 patients came from Islamabad, six from Azad Jammu and Kashmir whereas two patients arrived from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Chakwal.

As many as 225 patients are admitted to city hospitals including 57 in Holy Family Hospital, 30 in Benazir Bhutto Hospital (BBH), 78 in Rawalpindi Institute of Urology (RIU), five in District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital, 44 in Fauji Foundation Hospital (FFH), four patients each at Hearts International Hospital and Bilal Hospital, two patients at Begum Akhtar Sultana Trust Hospital and one patient at Attock Hospital.

There are five patients on ventilators in Rawalpindi, 135 are on oxygen support and 85 are stable.
