ISLAMABAD: The National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) will further expedite the process of vaccination as four million doses of Sinopharm and Sinovac vaccines reached the country and 6.1 million more doses of the vaccine under the arrangements of Covax are expected over the next 24 hours.

Another consignment of five million doses is likely to arrive in the country during the current month.

The NCOC announced that the number of active cases in the country on Sunday was 87,209.

Meanwhile, an official of the Ministry of National Health Services said the NCOC would expedite the vaccination process in the country.

“We have vaccinated 10 million people in 12 to 15 days, but we want to further increase the vaccination process as majority of people do not follow the standard operating procedures (SOPs),” the official said, adding that the NCOC was using all possible channels to get the maximum doses of Covid-19 vaccine.

The NCOC data showed that 67 deaths and 3,711 new cases were reported across the country on Sunday.

While 469 ventilators were occupied across the country, the situation of beds with oxygen was serious as 68pc such beds were in use in Swabi, 58pc in Karachi, 56pc in Abbotabad and 50pc in Peshawar.
