China has administered a total of 1.84 billion doses of Covid-19 vaccines as of Aug. 13, the National Health Commission has said.

On Aug. 13, about 11.93 million doses were administered, according to Reuters.

Confirmed cases are patients who display symptoms such as a cough or fever, or signs of infection when scanned. China does not include symptomless cases in its tally until signs of disease show up.

The spread of the Delta variant in China has prompted the activation of epidemic containment protocols including mass testing, demarcating neighbourhoods deemed risky and restricting movement in affected cities.
