GUJRAT: Police claimed on Tuesday to have arrested a fugitive wanted in a double murder case through Interpol from Dubai [United Arab Emirates].

A spokesman for Gujrat police told Dawn that suspect Naeem had killed his mother and stepfather at Chak Kamal of Gulliana police precincts back in 2011.

However, he said the suspect had managed to flee abroad and Gujrat District Police Officer Umar Salamat issued directions to the Gulliana Station House Officer [SI] Adnan Shehzad Tarrar to trace and arrest him. The spokesman said the Gulliana police had initiated the process of repatriation of the fugitive through Interpol and finally the suspect was arrested.

Police have started investigation from the suspect whereas the Gujrat DPO commended the efforts of the Gulliana police. Meanwhile, Dinga police claimed to have traced and arrested two members of a robbers gang wanted in various cases.

Police have also recovered cash and gold ornament worth around Rs2.5 million from the arrested suspects Tabish and Bilal.
