NAZIM: Tharparkar District Nazim Arbab Anwar has said efforts will be made to ensure healthcare facilities, including medicines, ambulances and doctors, in basic health units and hospitals in the region.

He was presiding over a meeting of health officials here on Monday.

Mr Anwar regretted that doctors were reluctant to serve in hospitals in this backward region. He said the secretary for health would be contacted to again issue posting orders to doctors who had been posted in Thar but had been allowed to work on deputation in other districts.

He said the Nagarparkar hospital did not have water supply facility, therefore the work of digging a well there would be completed soon. He said the hospital’s ultrasound machine would also be made operational after imparting required training to staff.

He said health authorities would be moved to increase the budget of a hospital in Chhachhro. He said funds would also be allocated for its electricity bills.

The nazim directed the health officials to ensure cleanliness in premises of hospitals and keep ambulances in order.
