RAWALPINDI: Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa has said that relations between Saudi Arabia and Pakistan are based on bonds of brotherhood and mutual trust and both nations would continue to play their part for peace and stability.

The army chief expressed these views during a meeting with Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister Prince Faisal Bin Farhan Al Saud here on Wednesday, said an Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) media release.

The COAS thanked the Saudi leadership for their support for Pakistan and its armed forces.

The Saudi foreign minister, while assuring Pakistan of unflinching support, appreciated sincere efforts and role Pakistan played in promotion of peace and stability in the region.

Matters of bilateral interest, evolving security situation in the region, including Afghanistan peace process, and collaboration for regional peace and connectivity were discussed.

Earlier on Tuesday, the army chief was given a briefing on ANF contributions to controlling drug trafficking in Pakistan during his visit to the ANF headquarters, according to the ISPR.
