Order to expedite Gwadar port work

QUETTA, Oct 30: Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz has instructed the Ministry of Ports and Shipping to seek anticipatory approval of Gwadar Deepwater Port master plan so that it is be made functional as soon as possible.

Sources said that the prime minister during his recent visit to Gwadar, discussed details of the project and issued directives to all concerned to expedite work on the project.

He issued orders to federal and provincial agencies and departments to make the port operational without further delay.

“The main directive was preparation of blue-print of the master plan so that an anticipatory approval is granted to the Gwadar Port Authority pending changes and amendment in the master plan in due course of time,” sources said.

The Gwadar Port Master Plan included attractive package to businessmen world over to use the services of deep water port so that it is made economically viable.

The prime minister has already instructed the Civil Aviation Authority to build the new airport matching the future needs for at least half a century. At the moment, instructions are issued for making arrangements for landing of wide body aircraft connecting Gwadar with rest of the world.
