KARAK: Seven persons, including women, were killed and eight injured when a passenger coach collided head-on with a truck on the Indus Highway near Krappa area of Karak district here on Sunday.

Police officials said that the passenger coach was going to Shakardarra area of Kohat from Rawalpindi.

Rescue 1122 personnel reached the spot soon after getting information about the accident and used heavy machinery to retrieve the bodies and the injured from the wreckage of the damaged coach.

The truck was also overturned. The bodies and the injured were shifted to the Divisional Headquarters Hospital in Kohat, where doctors said condition of the four injured was critical.

Eyewitnesses said that the accident occurred due to over-speeding.
