KARACHI: The Sindh government has formulated a comprehensive plan to dispose of the remains of the sacrificial animals in a timely and effective manner, says a statement.

Local Government Secretary Syed Najam Ahmad Shah said that in view of expected rains during Eidul Azha, the Sindh LG department had implemented emergency measures under which special operations would be carried out in all districts.

He said that the remains of the animals would be collected non-stop by the Sindh Solid Waste Management Board (SSWMB) and transported to the landfill sites from 85 locations.

He said offal collected from streets, roads and other places would be transferred to Jam Chakro, Gond Pass and Sharafi Goth landfill sites in compliance with all standard operating procedures.

The offal would be disposed in a “scientific” manner later, he said.

Mr Shah said that the landfill sites of Jam Chakro and Surjani had been designated to receive the offal collected from Central and East districts, while the offal collected from Keamari, West and South districts would be shifted to Gond Pass, Hub River Road.

Offal collected from districts Malir and Korangi would be disposed at Sharafi Goth.

He said special instructions had been issued to all the district administrations to discharge their responsibilities with full discipline and coordination.
